Bicycle Pump Track
The South Glenmore Park bicycle pump track is an asphalt circuit that consists of twists and turns. It’s a unique opportunity for cyclists of all ages to practice their balance and skills.
The track, a collaboration between the City of Calgary, Parks Foundation Calgary and the Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance, uses hills to create an “up and down” pumping motion that propels bikes forward rather than pedaling. The track is free to use, and offers Calgarians another recreational option.
A spokesperson from Parks Foundation Calgary says it is a great place for beginners to learn the basics of mountain biking, and for experienced riders to improve their skills. It also allows for a more social aspect of the sport, as there is a designated area where people can sit and chat while they are on the circuit.

The Glenmore Reservoir
Glenmore Reservoir, created by a dam in the Elbow River, provides safe drinking water and reduces high river levels. It also hosts a number of public facilities for locals and tourists to enjoy.
The reservoir’s perimeter features a 16km multi-use pathway/pedestrian and cycling trail that connects Heritage Marina beach, the Historical Village, South Glenmore Park, Weaselhead Flats Natural Environment Park, North Glenmore Park, and the Calgary Canoe Club and Calgary Rowing Club.
It’s the perfect spot for walking, jogging, playing golf and picnicking. And, during the summer, it’s a great place for fishing and sailing.
A good biking option to explore the reservoir is to cycle along the 37th St SW Pathway, which connects the park to the west end of Fish Creek Provincial Park. The scenic route is ideal for family fun and offers plenty of stopping points, including waterfront docks.
