Sandy Beach Park

If you’re in Calgary looking for a beach break this summer, look no further than Sandy Beach Park. Located in Calgary’s southwest along the Elbow River below River Park, it contains playgrounds and many picnic sites.

Water quality is monitored on a recurring basis in accordance with AHS guidelines for Enterococcus and cyanobacteria (blue green algae). High levels of Enterococcus can indicate fecal contamination that poses health risks to swimmers. You can find information on all of these and more by clicking here.

Dog Park

If you’re looking for a place to go to exercise your dog, there are plenty of options in Calgary. Whether you’re looking to go for a walk or get in some training, there are plenty of parks that have designated areas for dogs to play and socialize with other pets.

If the weather is nice, there are also some popular swimming spots around the city where you can relax with your pet after a long day of exploring. Some of these spots also offer a variety of amenities, such as picnic areas, playgrounds and river access.

The best way to find a dog park that’s right for you and your furry friend is to research the area and see what’s available. The City of Calgary lists several different areas on their website, so it’s easy to find the perfect place for you and your pet.

Picnic Area

If you’re looking for a place to go for a picnic or barbecue with friends and family, Calgary has a number of parks that offer outdoor areas for you to enjoy. The city’s 3,211 picnic tables and 416 barbecue sites are sure to please, no matter where you choose to set up shop.

Sandy Beach Park is a beautiful riverside spot that features a rocky beach by the slow-moving elbow river. This makes it one of the safest places for kids to play in the water.

The small playground is right by the larger parking lot and there are several spots to set up a picnic along the pathway that leads down to the river. The path is a bit steep but it’s worth it for a day of relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors! Visit another area in town here.

Playgrounds

Sandy Beach Park has a great selection of playgrounds for kids of all ages. There’s a natural-wood climbing structure, a roller slide and an oversized xylophone.

The newest additions to the park are a pair of playgrounds designed with families of children with special needs in mind. They were created through a partnership between Calgary Parks and the Parks Foundation, along with a large amount of funding from the Alberta government.

The playgrounds are located in two different areas on the lake – one north of the north gate and another northeast of it. The playgrounds have a variety of equipment for kids 2-5 years old with slides, animal sway swings, climbers, and monkey bars.

Dog-Friendly

The city of Calgary is known for its thriving oil industry, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have plenty to offer pet lovers. In addition to a number of dog parks, there are also several restaurants that welcome dogs on their patios and outdoor terraces.

A popular off-leash dog park is River Park, which offers a beautiful view of the city and the Elbow River. The Sandy Beach area of River Park is one of the best places to take your dog for a play date.

The park features lots of picnic sites, playgrounds, and more. It’s also a great spot to bring your dog for a swim in the river. The park was recently renovated to include a new inclusive playground, which is a great place for little ones to play! The park is also home to a water fountain. There is a small parking lot at the entrance. The park is open year round. Click here for more interesting articles.
